Our Approach to AI

Our mission is to help teams thrive with healthy feedback. A strong feedback culture relies on trust and human connection. AI can support, but should never get in the way.

Think of our AI tools as your behind-the-scenes assistants. They make your job easier, but leave the personal touch entirely up to you. You are always in the driver’s seat, and can turn off any feature that doesn’t fit your team’s culture.

The Three Pillars of our AI Tooling

Adjustable AI Coaches are visible in the sidebar next to many features, they support interactive chats, and admins can fine tune the Coaches to your needs or create new ones.

Embedded AI Features power up our existing features,  for instance in summarizing 360 Degree Feedback, improving Feedback writing, in turning Feedback into Objectives and more.

Our MCP Server makes it easy to connect your preferred LLM to Small Improvements. This way you can use Claude, Gemini or ChatGPT to load your  performance data and connect it to other data sources you have.

Adjustable AI Coaches

Our conversational AI Coaches can asses completed work and inspire your staff to make productive changes.

Suggested Talking-Points

A good manager will have no shortage of things to discuss during a 1:1, but even a good manager will forget things that happened half a year ago.

The AI coach can assist. It can remind the manager to verify that prior Review feedback has been resolved. It can also cross-check with the career matrix to suggest training and growth that might have fallen off the manager’s radar.

Adjust It to Your Needs

Coaches are 100% configurable. You can upload background resources to make them more knowledgeable and you can adjust the underlying prompts.

If you are running into  recurring challenges or tasks as an organization, you can create your own Coaches from scratch, such as “Ensure at least one talking point is about our values” or “Never create an Objective you already had last year.” The possibilities are endless.

Your Data, Anytime and Anywhere

Using our MCP Server, your staff can connect their favorite AI with Small Improvements, and load and process any data they have access to.

For example, an admin could connect Performance Review ratings from Small Improvements with salary information from their HRIS, and use ChatGPT to analyze trends.

A manager could have Claude create a summary of all upcoming 1:1 meetings action items for their Monday stand-up.

An individual contributor could load upcoming todo-items from Small Improvements into a combined list in Gemini.

Embedded AI Features

Some of our AI enhancements are baked right into the corresponding feature so that the insight shows up exactly where and when you need it.

360 Degree Summaries

Reading through multiple peer reviews takes time, and patterns get lost in the noise. 360 Degree Summaries use AI to surface the key recommendations across all that feedback automatically, so the signal doesn’t get buried.
