Before Small Improvements, the only feedback process we had at GetYourGuide were 1:1s. Managers made notes in Google Sheets, but it wasn’t well organized and it wasn’t scalable. We needed a system where managers can provide proper feedback to their team and employees can ask their peers for feedback. That’s when we came across Small Improvements. We’ve been using the tool since 2014 and our employees love it!
The Praise feature is especially crucial to us. When I joined in early 2015, we were around 70 employees. Now we employ more than 350 people in 10 different offices around the world. We were growing so fast that sometimes you didn’t have time to appreciate all the hard work people are doing, but Small Improvements makes it easy to praise someone for doing a good job. Everyone at GetYourGuide praises actively, from our CEO to our engineers. You can create so much value with Praise in just a few seconds. And this small recognition not only motivates us, but is also a great basis for meaningful 360s and performance review check-ins.
The tool is also well-integrated with our existing systems so employees don’t feel they need to learn a whole new tool. One of the best things is that we integrated our core values into SI. For the praise feature, our employees can include a badge with one of our core values (commitment, clarity, learning, passion, positivity) when they write a ‘praise message’ about a co-worker. SI also allows us to integrate our core values into our feedback processes. We gear our 360 questions around them, which is great because you automatically have to think of our core values when giving feedback.
I would recommend Small Improvements because it makes giving feedback easy and fun. If you’re looking for a system to encourage a culture of feedback and appreciation, Small Improvements is the perfect tool!
